The Christian Investor: Trust Issues

There is a time to make a move and there is a time to sit back and let God handle it all, but how to do we define the two?

God is protecting us from things we cannot see.

As said in Ecclesiastes 3:11, ” He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. And when He calls us to sit back and not move, God is protecting us from things we cannot see. And if you don’t know when God is telling you to trust him, ask Him! This understanding requires you to read more of his the bible for you to understand what he is speaking to you.

God has higher thinking than we do.

Besides, you may not be mentally or emotionally prepared for what “looks” like an exciting opportunity. If you trust God in handling the small things, you must trust him in the big things too. We have to lean on his understanding, for God’s has higher thinking than we do. He can turn a bad situation into good in a matter of seconds, but if you cannot trust with the gift he has given you how can he help you?

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, Have never forsaken those who seek you. – Psalm 9:10

This week, ask God how you can trust him in every area of your life. Ask him to not only to help you when problems arise but to help you when things are going well. God will help us in the good times and bad, but our trust issues can stand in the way. Ponder on this scripture this week:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3: 5-6

The Christian Investor: Time To Be A Leader

If you want to be a leader or you’re already placed in a leadership role, take action and always be ready to serve people in the best way possible. There are many readings you can find in the bible about people taking leadership roles and how God helped them in a difficult situation. But there is a big difference in managing people and leading people. Five signs of successful leadership qualities are:

  • Generosity
  • Being Likable
  • Remembering everyone’s name
  • Showing others that you genuinely care
  • Focusing on people and looking at them in the eye when they are talking

Being a leader takes courage, discipline, and determination. You have the responsibility to serve others before you serve yourself. As is says in Galatians 6:9,

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Perhaps you’re not a CEO of a large corporation or manager of a firm, but God may want you to take a leadership role amongst your friends. As you draw closer to God this week, ask him in what ways you can have better leadership skills and how you can be a godly influence on others.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value other above yourselves. – Philippians 2:3

The Christian Investor: For The Love of Money

Christians are always speaking of trusting in God and not worrying about gaining riches, but don’t we need money to live? We have to pay for gas for our car, pay for groceries, pay for the home we live in…pay for everything! However, many people love to misuse bible scriptures. Let’s read the whole scripture:

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.- 1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV)

Looking at the first five words of the scripture, it says,”For the love of money”. Loving money won’t give you anything but more problems. More money can lead to greed and other “fleshly” desires that God does not honor and these problems will only destroy your life. There is nothing wrong with working for wealth, but money is powerful and you can’t serve both God and money.

No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.- Matthew 6:24

As investors and entrepreneurs, we are always searching for business opportunities with better cash flow, but don’t become so involved and no longer trust in God. Money is here today and gone tomorrow, but God reigns forever. Instead of asking God for more money, ask him for wisdom and knowledge so when you have money you know how to manage it wisely.

The Christian Investor: Sweat Equity

I recall many times when I was working very hard on my networking business and there were days when I wanted to give up. I had no results even though I was doing everything I could; I was a top performer, drove many miles on the road to meet new customers and present new business opportunities on a daily basis. Nothing seemed to work and I couldn’t get past the glass ceiling. But now I’ve realized that I was working hard for others, but I wasn’t trusting God with my business.

Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart, for consider what great thing he has done for you. – 1 Samuel 12:24

As entrepreneurs, we have to constantly remind ourselves to work hard and pray like it’s up to him. There will be dry seasons (if you haven’t had them already) and you will feel like giving up. But if God gave you a clear vision of something you’re passionate about, is that worth leaving behind because you’re not seeing results? Everyone has a different path and in my situation, the dry seasoned passed and things were brighter because he had a better plan for me. But sometimes God will place us in these particular situations because he wants to see our sweat equity. With God, anything is possible, but if he gave you your dream tomorrow, would you be capable fo handling it (as we all raise our hands and say, YES!)

As investors and business owners, NEVER underestimate God and his power. He simply wants you to lean on him- not on your understanding, but his! As we enter into a new week, ask Him to lead you in strength through this time in your life and remember all of the things he has already brought you through.

You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. -Psalm 128:2 (NIV)

The Christian Investor: Dreams & Visions

I’ve noticed a vast growth of Christian entrepreneurs and investors, and I don’t think it’s a mistake. I truly believe that God wants more entrepreneurs working in their gifts and reaching to others through Him.

Perhaps you had a dream years ago to become a contractor, but instead, you concentrated on working more hours at your job to support your family. Or you maybe you’re a stay-at-home mom with the desire to become an investor, but instead, you put it behind you to take care of your kids at home *cough*.

Whatever dream or vision you have, if it is a dream that turned into a desire, ask God if this is right according to Him. But understand that God may want you to wait on him or he may be waiting on you to take that next step in faith- I wish I had the answer for you but that’s not my job.

For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.- Jeremiah 29:11

What To Expect From This Series:

Let’s make this very apparent and know that I am NOT a pastor or religious leader of any kind. I am a petite, aggressive businesswoman who loves God, stock investing, entrepreneurship, and I’m probably bound to say something blunt that may hurt you feelings…deal with it (in Jesus name)! My hope is to reach out to a young woman or gentleman who needed the spiritual encouragement to take action (or patience) on the next step to pursue their dreams.

However, I’ve titled┬áthis series “The Christian Investor” not only for investors but for all entrepreneurs and those who have a strong dream to achieve more. The goal for me is for you to become closer to God as you pursue your God-given dreams. Let’s end this with a short prayer (it’s the least I can do).

Dear God,

Please speak to me about what you want me to do with the dreams and visions you have given to me and let them not return void. As I read more of your word and begin to know you more, help me to have a desire to know you more and guide me throughout my week. Amen.
